Dry Acid Salts form a cleaning solution when dissolved in water that can be used to activate, pickle a variety of metals. They are used primarily as an activation dip prior to plating. In this dip, the part to be plated is immersed in the acid pickle, which slightly etches the surface, removing oxides and preparing the part for electroplating.

Depending upon the concentration, these salts can make between 2.5 and 20 litres of acid pickle solution. The salts can be used to: - Activate metal prior to plating or passivation - Strip - Remove oxide, rust and scale. Ideally it is best to use it as an activation dip prior to plating. This way it will stay clean and have a long effective life.
